by Richard Williams, Journal sports writer Liberty County had 195 yards of offense in the first quarter and built an early 14-0 lead before turnovers and missed assignments allowed 35 unanswered points by Holmes County to knock Liberty County out of the state playoffs. Liberty took the lead on their first possession of the game as Alex Marlowe ran outside the defense and raced down the sidelines for a score with less than three minutes gone in the game. by Richard Williams, Journal sports writer At halftime of Liberty County’s 40-14 win over South Walton, Ben Beckwith played in the band, but in the fourth quarter the LCHS sophomore running back made the band play for him as he raced 91 yards down the sideline for Liberty’s final touchdown of the night. Beckwith’s second touchdown of the night gave him 106 yards on three carries. The winner of this game would firmly plant themselves in the driver seat to the Class 1A Region 2 District 4 title. LCHS Class of ‘76 gathers Saturday for dinner cruise reunion

Members of Liberty County High School’s Class of 1976 marked their 35th year since graduation with a dinner cruise in Panama City Saturday night.  After the cruise, several classmates met at a nearby hotel and stayed up late reminiscing and sharing stories from lives since high school.  The next morning, they met again for breakfast before departing.                               TERESA EUBANKS PHOTOS

Liberty spoils Bozeman’s homecoming with 13-10 win

  by Richard Williams, Journal sports writer Liberty County overcame missed assignments and numerous injuries to spoil Bozeman’s homecoming by taking a 13-10 non-district win Friday. Bozeman was leading 10-6 and had forced LCHS to punt when the game changed dramatically. Bozeman’s Jacob Martinez settled under a punt by Daniel Deason and attempted to make a fair catch. He bobbled the catch attempt and the ball dropped to the ground where it was immediately covered by a Bulldog defender on the Buck 12 yard line. by Richard Williams, Journal sports writer The Liberty County Bulldogs outscored West Gadsden 26-17 to survive a close homecoming game that wasn’t decided until the last few minutes of the contest. Daniel Deason scored a touchdown and a two-point conversion that moved Liberty ahead by nine points to secure the win. Deason also scored Liberty’s first touchdown of the night when he picked up a bouncing onside kick and raced down the sideline for the score. Bulldogs take Seahawks 49-7 in first district game

by Richard Williams, Journal sports writer Liberty County earned a win in their first district contest of the year Sept. 23 as they dominated Franklin County 49-7. Liberty scored 41 points in the first half and the game was played with a running clock the entire second half under the mercy rule. by Richard Williams, Journal sports writer Former LCHS Head Football Coach Richard Kennedy was honored by former players Sept. 16 in recognition of his contributions to the team as well as his upcoming induction into the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
