Angel Brake, 8, and her kittens Fiona and Tiger love to play together. The kittens chase Angel through the yard and then she will chase them. FWC needs help in mapping fox squirrel sites

If you have seen a big squirrel with a long, bushy, fox-like tail, Florida wildlife biologists need your help. What you saw was a Florida fox squirrel, and biologists with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are asking you to go online and record your sighting of this creature twice the size of an ordinary squirrel. Fox squirrels often have distinctive, masked faces with a black head and white nose and ears but, there are wide variations in coloration – from tan to gray or black. Orphaned baby becomes an educated squirrel

A couple of months ago, a baby squirrel fell out of its nest and into Cassie Hobby’s life. The tiny grey creature suffered a few cuts which were doctored by Cassie, who started the squirrel on small doses of antibiotics. When its eyes finally opened, Cassie was the first thing she saw. Cassie did research on the internet to learn how to take care of the squirrel, which she named Sandy. She started out feeding her every four hours. Kaitlin “Katie” Lynn met Jade, a Daschund, after an accident killed her first Daschund, Chase. Neighbors who had seen the accident sent Jade her way. Jade will smile on command for a treat. Chloe and Ester met when Chloe’s Papa found Ester at a chip mill in Americas, GA. She was one of three little orphans so Papa knew Chloe would love to have her as a pet. Ester has been with Chloe for about six weeks now and when she is not playing with Chloe she is hiding in Nannie’s sewing bag asleep. Ester is a baby raccoon who lives with her family in Altha. Chloe is the daughter of Jared Miller and Amanda Hill.

Wilhoit “Fiddler” Eubanks was honored posthumously at the Liberty County Farm Bureau Annual Banquet in Bristol on Thursday, Aug. 18. He was recognized as being a long time Farm Bureau member as well as one of its directors. He was the oldest serving member of Liberty County Commission and his efforts contributed to Liberty County having the lowest unemployment in the state. Eubanks was also the longest serving member of the Liberty County Lions Club. Two-year-old C Ray loves visiting his Nana and Pepaw (Roger and Vicki Fowler of Altha) because he gets to frolic with Shelby, their nine-month-old Golden Retriever. The toddler enjoys throwing the ball for her to fetch. He tries to make her sit and shake but she doesn’t always cooperate with his commands. The playful dog has a blue and brown stuffed bone that she dearly loves. As you can see by the photo above, the pair enjoy playing in the dirt together.
