CLEARWATER — Caroline R. Yoder of Blountstown received a President’s Recognition at Clearwater Christian College for scholastic achievement during the 2011 fall semester. In order to be recognized for this award, honorees must have been enrolled full-time and earn a minimum grade point average of 3.90 on a 4.00 scale. Yoder is a 2005 graduate and the daughter of David and Sharon Yoder of Blountstown. Yoder is a senior Biology major at Clearwater Christian College. Charlie Holliday was recognized as Athletic Training Student of the Month for October at Florida International University in Miami. “Charlie comes in every day and has an agenda to accomplish. Tiffany (McClellan) Roddenberry of Tallahassee was sworn in as a member of the Florida Bar on Sept. 29. After taking the Florida bar this summer, Tiffany began a federal judicial clerkship for U.S. District Court Judge Robert Hinkle of the Northern District of Florida in Tallahassee. She earned her undergraduate degree in Political Science, summa cum laude, from the Florida State University in 2006. Toren Guthrie builds tables for Tolar for Boy Scout projec

Toren Guthrie of Boy Scout Troop 203 recently completed his Eagle Service Project. W. R. Tolar School was the recipient of this project. Six 12-foot picnic tables were constructed with the help of 30 volunteers. These picnic tables were built with an extra emphasis on safety and durability. The picnic tables not only enhanced the look of the campus, but will be around for many years to come for lots of different activities for Tolar students.

Dallas Johnson lands a big 265 lb. nurse shark Aug. 17

Dallas Johnson, 12, the son of Sheila Marlowe Hill and Derrack “Supershine” Hill, would like to share his catch of the day with family and friends. This 7 1/2 foot, 265 lb. nurse shark was caught on Aug. 17 at Crooked Island Sound according to the captain of the boat, Mr. K. Nichols. It took Dallas approximately 30 minutes to land the shark with the assistance of the others on the boat. Dallas is a sixth grade student at W.R. Tolar in Bristol.

Holloway earns highest rank in Boys Scouts

Robert Alan Holloway achieved the highest rank in Scouting, the rank of Eagle. He will be honored on Aug. 2 at the LDS church in Newport News second ward. Robert is the son of Seth and Sherri Holloway of Fort Eustis VA, and the grandson of Carol Copley and the late Robert Copley of Bristol and Don and Sharon Holloway of Enoch City, UT. Wood graduates with nursing degree from Southern Mississippi May 14

Beth (Doran) Wood graduated May 14 with honors from Southern Mississippi University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Beth was on the National Dean’s List and also was given the National Collegiate Nursing Award. Beth served six years in the United States Air Force as an E.M.T. including a tour of duty in Iraq, where she worked in the trauma unit. After leaving the Air Force in 2006, she continued to work full-time at the hospital at Eglin, while taking some courses necessary for college credits. Dees earns bachelor’s in nursing

Lisa Dees of Blountstown has received her Bachelor of Science Nursing from Western Governors University. The university held its semi-annual commencement ceremony in Salt Lake City on Feb. 12 and recognized 1,922 WGU students who have completed their degrees since July of last year.
