A 31-year-old woman was charged with criminal mischief and battery after a June 25 incident at the Swampy Tonk Bar. Janie Dalton was arrested after she got into a dispute with another woman and followed her out to her car, according to the arrest report. Dalton accused Jennifer Leigh Bailey, 26, of making an obscene hand gesture in front of her nephew. The women exchanged words and then Bailey, along with two friends, left to go to her vehicle. A patron at the Swampy Tonk bar was arrested Thursday night for flattening three tires on a truck. Sgt. Jared Nichols and Deputy Eddie Dalton were on patrol around the bar at 11:23 p.m. when they were approached by Randall Chambliss, who said someone had damaged his tires. Chambliss said that before entering the bar earlier that night, he was approached by Scott Adkins and Adkins’ brother. A man who reportedly cursed at a deputy and told him “This is my yard and I can play my music as loud as I want” was arrested for disorderly intoxication and resisting arrest without violence Friday night. Calhoun County Deputy Eddie Dalton responded to a loud music complaint at a residence on SW SR 20 at 9:23 p.m. He was met in the driveway by Tyrell Ashley Odom, 25. Charges of trafficking in hydrocodone filed against Patrick Todd Lee, 40, last month in Blountstown have been dropped. Lee was arrested after a deputy found an unlabeled bottle of 46 hydrocodone pills in his vehicle after he was stopped for going 30 miles over the speed limit. Assistant State Attorney Bob Pell said Todd did not have a prescription with him at the time of the traffic stop but later brought one in. A 21-year-old woman was arrested on a charge of battery for shoving her mother’s boyfriend during a dispute at their home Aug. 10. According to the arrest report, April Detrick became upset when she learned that her mother had agreed to let the father of Detrick’s child move in with them. An inmate at the Calhoun County Jail is charged with two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest with violence and criminal mischief after he fought with deputies when they told him to move to another cell Saturday night. A 28-year-old man was arrested on a forgery charge and petty theft after he attempted to cash a check taken from his grandmother, according to a report from the Blountstown Police Department. The manager at Bank of American contacted the suspect’s aunt, whose name was written on the check. She confirmed that she did not sign a check for him. by Teresa Eubanks, Journal Editor An Altha woman is facing numerous charges after she allegedly stole, forged and cashed 57 checks totaling $14,504 from a Calhoun County man who hired her to take care of his ailing wife, according to a report from the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators report that Anna Marie Nichols, 28, passed 24 of the checks at Superior Bank and Smith’s Grocery, both in Altha, for a total of $4,170.
