2018 County ELECTIONS

by Teresa Eubanks, Journal Editor

The positions of county judge, three seats on the school board and two county commission spots will be on the ballot in both Calhoun and Liberty County this year.

Since last week’s listing of the first candidates to declare their intent to run, four more have added their names to the list.  They include:

•Incumbent Judge James Kevin Grover, 46, of Blountstown, filed Jan. 29.
County Commissioner, District 4

•Scott Dewayne Monlyn, 46, of Blountstown, filed Jan. 29.   He is a Democrat.
Dist. 5 School Board incumbent Danny Hassig filed his intent to run again on  Jan. 18.

Please note that in last week’s candidate story, we mistakenly listed that the District 1 County Commission seat held by Danny Ray Wise was up for re-election. It is not. Instead, please note that the County Commission seats for District 2, currently held by Darrell McDougald,  and 4, currently held by Dennis Jones,  will be open.

County Commissioner District 2

•Garland “Gar” Revell, 62, of Bristol, filed on Jan. 26.
School Board Member District 4

•Kyle Peddie, 48, of Hosford, filed on Jan. 26.
Those who have previously filed include incumbent County Judge Ken Hosford, County Judge Candidate David Jackson Summers, Dist. 5 School Board Candidate Charles “Boo” Morris and District 3 School Board candidate Cathia Schmarje.
