Body located behind Telogia home identified

from the Calhoun-Liberty Journal

The body of a woman found in the woods behind a Telogia home Friday has
been identified as Lacey Ammons, 30, according to Lt. John Summers of
the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

An autopsy performed Saturday showed no sign of trauma to the body,
Summers said. “There was no gunshot wound,” he said, responding to
rumors indicating otherwise.

“We’re still trying to determine the cause of death,” Summers said.
Instead of investigating the case as a homicide, he said, “This is now
an unattended death investigation.  We suspect she died elsewhere and
her body was placed there. ”

He said investigators have been told Ammons may have had a substance
abuse problem.

The death is being investigated by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office
and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Summers said they
were still trying to determine where Ammons lived and noted that she
resided at several places, at times staying with relatives in
Blountstown, her estranged husband in Telogia and other friends.
