Semi to take trailer full of supplies to Texas from Liberty & Calhoun

A local effort is in the works by the citizens of Liberty and Calhoun counties to send a shipment of supplies to those affected by the massive flooding in Texas.

An area business has offered the use of a semi truck and trailer to deliver the donations.

On Thursday, Aug. 31,  the trailer will be brought to Blountstown and parked at the intersection of Main Street and Central Avenue, across the street from Blountstown City Hall.  Other collection points will be set up in Bristol, Hosford and Altha.

Donation sites are in the process of being established but as of Thursday, those wishing to can also drop off items at Altha City Hall, Blountstown City Hall or Bristol City Hall during office hours.

Items needed include water, non-perishable food, diapers and baby wipes, hygiene products and toiletries, first aid kits, ziplock bags, socks, cots, blankets, air mattresses and cleaning supplies.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Blountstown Police Department and the Altha Police Department are assisting with the project.
