James Henry Ammons

BLOUNTSTOWN - James Henry Ammons, 73, of Blountstown, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 29, 2017. He was born July 28, 1943 to Emma (Billie) Ammons in Blountstown. He lived most of his life in Calhoun and Liberty counties. He loved the outdoors and loved to fish, especially at a place called Whiskey George where he lived and fished for a short time as a boy. He worked as a logger for 25 years and worked for the Calhoun County Road Department for the last 21 years.

He will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him along with his church family at Calvary Baptist Church in Blountstown where he was a long-time member. This is not the end, this is only the beginning and we will see him again in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Emma (Billie) Ammons and a special uncle, Dallas Jackson “Nookie” Ammons of Blountstown.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Sue Ammons of Blountstown; 11 children, Sambo Ammons and Jeff Ammons and his wife, Shannon of Hosford, Jace and his wife, Denise, Jaret, Lisa and Tammy Ammons of Blountstown, Patrick, Preston, Vyki, Violet, and James Manning and his wife, Denielle, all of Blountstown; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, May 3 from 6-8 p.m. CT at Calvary Baptist Church.

Services will be held Thursday, May 4 at 2 p.m. CT at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Francis Carlisle and Rev. Bill Mayo officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
