George Eugene Lewis

BLOUNTSTOWN - George Eugene Lewis, 52, of Blountstown, passed away early Monday morning, April 10, 2017 at Calhoun Liberty Hospital.

He was born in Panama City on Oct. 11, 1964 and had lived in Blountstown for the last 25 years.

He served in the United States Air Force and worked with the Department of Corrections for 30 years.

An ordained minister for 13  years, he was the Associate Pastor at the Blountstown First Pentecostal Holiness Church, served as Regional Men’s Director and was the Florida Director of the Sunshine Prison Ministries.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lewis, and by the father who raised him, Danny EsMiller.

Survivors include his mother, Nancy EsMiller of Norfolk, VA; his beloved wife, Mary Lewis of Blountstown; five sons, Derek Watson and his wife, Shanna of Clarksville, Chris Lewis and his wife, Chelsea of Fountain, Alex Lewis and his wife, Julia of Lake City, Wesley Lewis of Bristol and Landen Allen of Blountstown; two daughters, Kristy Pennington and her husband, Michael of Blountstown and Jeannie Morris and her husband, Jay of Grand Ridge; four brothers, Jack Lewis and his wife, Mary of West Virginia, Michael Lewis and his wife, Melanie of Panama City Beach, Chip EsMiller and his wife, Anna Belle and Andy EsMiller, all of Norfolk, VA; two sisters, Laurie Lewis of Norfolk, VA and Lisa Lewis of Philadelphia, PA; and nine grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, April 12 from 6-8 p.m. CT at Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown.

Services will be held Thursday, April 13 at 10 a.m. CT at Blountstown First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. David Goodman, Chaplain Chris Honnen and Chaplain Joe Cain officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Memorial Cemetery in Blountstown.

Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown is in charge of the arrangements.
