Melba Jean Childers

BLOUNTSTOWN - Melba Jean Childers, 83, of Blountstown, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017 in Panama City. She was born on Oct. 17, 1933 in Blackman to Leonard A. and Alma S. Kennedy Hilton. She was a retired school teacher and worked for the Okaloosa County School Board for 24 years. She had lived in Blountstown since 2001, and was a member of Weslyan Methodist Church in Crestview, where she also worked as director of daycare.

Survivors include her beloved husband, William K. Childers of Scotts Ferry; a son, Timothy H. Childers of Scotts Ferry; daughters, Myra I. Tropsa and her husband, Jon of Atlanta, GA and Melissa A. Stankard and her husband, Paul of Pace; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were held Thursday, March 30 at Peavy Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Taylor officiating. Memorialization was by cremation.

Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown was in charge of the arrangements.
