Charlotte Bradley Brown

WEWAHITCHKA - Charlotte Bradley Brown, 95, of Wewahitchka, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Wewahitchka. She was born on Oct. 25, 1921, in Jackson County. She attended Florida State College for Women, soon to become Florida State University. After graduation she moved to Wewahitchka and in 1946 met and married Robert Brown and began a 33 year teaching career at Wewahitchka School, where she was an Elementary Education teacher. She also taught many years of Sunday School at Westside Baptist Church.

She often said she lived in the grandest of times, from the days of horse and buggy to voices bouncing off satellites around the world. She was a wife, mother, sister, teacher, mentor, friend, prayer warrior, active church member of Westside Baptist Church in Wewahitchka, and a child of God. She was also a member of the woman’s club.

She was preceded in death by five siblings, Margie Hewett, Olivia Neel, E.B. Bradley, Ruby Helms and Hinton Bradley and her husband of 50 years, Robert Brown.

Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Hillier of Panama City; two sons, Stephen Brown and his wife, Jennifer and Scotty Brown, all of Wewahitchka; grandchildren, Kelly Brown and Bonnie Smith, both of Texas, Mariah and Beau Brown and Roman Brown, all of Wewahitchka; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Brown and Tyler Smith of Texas; and a host of friends that call her family.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

Services will be held Sunday, March 26 at 2 p.m. CT at Westside Baptist Church in Wewahitchka with Rev. Derrick Gerber officiating. Interment will follow at Jehu Cemetery in Wewahitchka.

Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown is in charge of the arrangements.

    Mrs. Brown was a wonderful lady and friend. I will always remember her teaching me in Home Economics my senior year. When I told her David and I were getting married she was so proud for us. Loved her so much. She is resting now in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
