Silas S. Eubanks

TALLAHASSEE - Silas S. Eubanks, 97, of Tallahassee, passed away Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee. He was born in Bristol on April 12, 1920 to the late Bertus and Birdie Eubanks.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp in World War II in the European Theatre and later served stateside during the Korean conflict. After his military service, he was employed until retirement as a forester with the St. Joe Paper Company. During the last eight years of his life, he was lovingly cared for by Pauline Driggers, C.N.A.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence B. Eubanks in 1994; two brothers, Paul J. Eubanks and James Wilhoite Eubanks; one sister, Dessie Marr; two sisters-in-law, Iris Eubanks and Rowena Eubanks; and brothers-in-law, Bill Marr, Cephus Traylor and Royce Traylor.

Survivors include a son, Silas R. Eubanks; one brother, Johnny B. Eubanks; two sisters, Doris Traylor and Betty Traylor; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

Private graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. ET at Culley’s MeadowWood Memorial Park in Tallahassee. Interment followed.

Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee was in charge of the arrangements.
