BLOUNTSTOWN - Jimmie Guilford, 94, of Blountstown, passed away Sunday, Feb. 12, 2017 in Blountstown. He was born on Sept. 17, 1922 in Blountstown. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, including the Invasion of Normandy and the Korean Conflict. He then joined the U.S. Air Force, retired as SSG following 22 years of service. Following his retirement he then became a Merchant Marine for over 20 years. He worked with Abitibi Mill for a number of years. After he retired he enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and camping.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson, Michael Wayne Guilford and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife Dollie Guilford of Blountstown; five children, Brenda Gayle Guilford- Crepeau and her husband, Robert and Don W. Guilford and his wife, Tonja, all of Tallahassee, Jerry L. Guilford of Blountstown, Lenora Oakes of Naylor, GA and Clayton Youngs and his wife, Evelyn of Wewahitchka; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. CT at Peavy Funeral Home with Rev. Riley Adams officiating. Interment followed at Nettle Ridge Cemetery.
