DOTHAN, AL - Joe Parrish, 67, of Dothan, AL, passed away surrounded by his family Sun-day, Jan. 29, 2017 at his residence.
He was born July 7, 1949 in Quincy, and he resided the early years of his life in Blountstown and Port St. Joe. He was a 1968 graduate of Dothan High School.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the United States Army. He received several commendations including the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal; Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Joe graduated from Troy State University with a degree in computer science. He also worked as a residential draftsman for home builders and individuals for several years.
He loved to play dominos and he would play at every opportunity with his friends. He was a member of Dothan Elks Lodge, Paralyzed Veterans Association of America as well as the National Dusters, Quads and Search Lights Association.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Parrish; two sons, Shayne Parrish and Ethan Parrish; a daughter, Kelly (Steve) Guldin; two grandchildren, Cierra Walker and Sophie Guldin; his great-grandson, Jeffery Walker; two brothers, Jim Parrish and Larry Parrish; two sisters, Lynette New and Kathy Brignac; his best friend for 50 years, Shelly (Pe-joe) Enfin-ger; special care-giver, Mary Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 2:30 p.m. CT at Sun-set Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment with full military hon-ors will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
