Ada Janette Metzger

BLOUNTSTOWN - Ada Janette Metzger, 90, of Blountstown, went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017. She was born on Oct. 13, 1926 in Omaha, NE, to Harry Guy and Gladys Irene Jones Baker. She was raised in the San Francisco Bay area.

She held numerous occupations throughout her life including school teacher, homemaker, and Missionary with New Tribes Mission, where she and her husband worked and traveled in Bolivia, South America. She married her husband Max on Oct. 19, 1944. She had lived in Blountstown for the past two years and was a member of Blountstown United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Ila and Betty.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 72 years, Max G. Metzger of Blountstown; two sons, Gene Metzger of Midlothian, VA and Paul Metzger of Madison, AL; three daughters, Eileen Hatch of Blountstown, Charlotte Wolgamott of Callahan and Rebecca Remmers of Richmond, VA; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at Blountstown United Methodist Church in Blountstown. Memorialization will be by cremation.

Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown is in charge of the arrangements.
