Dora Burke Parramore

MT. PLEASANT - Dora Burke Parramore, 104, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016, at her oldest daughter’s home in Carrabelle. Her two daughters, Velma and Annie Lee, were by her side.  She was a Florida native and lived most of her life in Mt. Pleasant.

She was a Christian and was of the Church of Christ faith.  She worked on the family farm and loved cooking big meals for her family and friends.  She loved fishing.  She would dress, prepare and cook any wild game that her husband and sons brought home, even though she didn’t eat wild game.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Parramore; one son, Cleveland Parramore; and her parents, Tom Burke and Virginia Lee Burke.

Survivors include two daughters, Velma O’Neal (Tommy Jack) Massey and Annie Lee Josey, both of Carrabelle; four sons, Melvin Parramore of Adele, GA, Roland and John David (Sylvia), all of Chattahoochee and James (Glenna) of Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Donie Steadman of Palatka; 23 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, Dec. 23 at the Old Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Interment followed at Old Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Mt. Pleasant UMC.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
