Jack B. “Red” Goodson

QUINCY - Jack B. “Red” Goodson, 85, of Quincy, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016 from a long illness. He was born April 26, 1931 to the late Jack B. Goodson, Sr. and the late Shelly Goodson Phillips.

A longtime resident of Quincy, he proudly served his country in the National Guard and retired from Higdon Grocery Co. as Director of the Non-Foods Division.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva Greene Goodson; four daughters, Robbie Berzman (Lee), Robinette Dunning (Brad), Jackie Gerber and Gigi Schaum (Jeff); his sister, Dorothy Phillips Faircloth (Billy); two brothers, Larry Phillips and Billy Kerfoot; a brother-in-law, Broward Greene (Georgia); seven grandchildren Michael Gerson (Jessica), Spencer Avant (Chase), Garrett Gerber, Mitchell Gerson, Mallory Johnson (Andy), Grace Rooijakkers (Willem), Austin Gerber; a great-grandson, Easton Gerson; two nieces, Norma Greene Shotwell (Gary) and Michele Faircloth; and a nephew, Brevard Greene (Anna).

A very special thank you to his devoted caregivers, Vanessa Trueblood and Lonnie Taylor, whose care and comfort extended to the Goodson family is greatly appreciated.

Services were held Friday, Dec. 2 at Rock Bluff Assembly of God Church. Interment followed at Rock Bluff Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimers Foundation.

Charles McClellan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
