Charles Elmer O’Bryan, Sr.

BONIFAY - Charles E. O’Bryan, Sr., 78, of Bonifay, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 in Bonifay. He was born on May 11, 1938, raised in Altha, and married Martha Hysmith Parrish.

He was a self-taught man in mechanics, carpentry and construction and practiced his trade as a craftsman for many years. His life accomplishments are to be commended as he only had a 4th grade education. He loved his entire family, but his grandchildren were very special to him.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Elmer O’Bryan, Jr. of Tallahassee; a stepson, Harry Parrish, Jr. of Nashville, TN; his parents, Bertie Mae Hunt O’Bryan and Buck Melton O’Bryan; four brothers, Brinson, Willard, Preston and Donnie O’Bryan; and two sisters, Eloise O’Bryan Chason and Jeanette Hunt Hollman.

Survivors include his ex-wife, Martha O’Bryan; a daughter-in-law, Susan Clark O’Bryan; a brother, Bryan O’Bryan “Snuffy” of Augusta, GA; a sister, Elsie O’Bryan Gilbert of Marianna; four granddaughters, Jennifer O’Bryan Kelly, Rebecca O’Bryan, Kimberly O’Bryan, of Tallahassee and Christina Lee; and four great-grandchildren of central Florida.

Graveside services were held Friday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. CT at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Altha with Pastor Donnie Thomas officiating. Interment followed.

Independent Funeral Home in Quincy was in charge of the arrangements.
