Artie May Cook Gay

WHITE CITY - Artie Mae Cook Gay, 77, of White City, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2016 in Wakulla County. She was born Oct. 2, 1939 in Blountstown, to Thomas Berry Brewster and Artie Lucille Cook. She graduated from Blountstown High School and retired from the St. Joseph Telephone Company where she was employed as a bookkeeper and accountant for over 30 years. She was a faithful, long-standing member and loyal supporter of White City First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 49 years, Roy Gay; two sisters, Catherine Smith and Mildred Kirkland; and her mother-in-law, Grace Gay.

Survivors include her two sisters, Lillian Goodman of Crawfordville, and Dora Kirkland of Cottonwood, AL; One sister-in-law, Elma Lonsford; One brother-in-law, Troy Gay; three step daughters, Sheila Cauley, Nelda Stowe and Kathy Paul; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends who loved her dearly.

Graveside services to honor her were held Friday, Nov. 25 at Holly Hill Cemetery in Port St. Joe with Reverend Nick Davis officiating.

Comforter Funeral Home in Port St. Joe was in charge of the arrangements.
