John Lee Tester
TEXAS - John Lee Tester, 86, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at his home in Texas. Born on Sept. 29, 1930 in Calvin, VA he also lived in Michigan and in Clarksville, where he retired in 1982 as a conductor for the railroad. His special achievement and passion was to serve God and Country. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the Korean War in the “Taro Leaf” 24th Infantry Division and was a long standing member of Calvary Baptist Church in Blountstown.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Tester; a daughter, Joan Elizabeth Begley; and a son, Martin Keith Tester.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Jean Gardner of Texas and Connie Bell and her husband, Wayne, all of Texas; two sisters, Evelyn Adeline Lee and Barbara Jean Day and her husband, Kermit, all of Virginia; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ann Tester of Texas; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside viewing and service was held at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery in Clarksville Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 12 p.m. CT with Reverend Francis Carlisle officiating. Internment followed.
Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown is in charge of the arrangements.
