Early voters making their way to the polls

As of 5 p.m. Tuesday, a large number of voters in Calhoun and Liberty counties had already cast their ballots by taking advantage of the early voting option.

CALHOUN COUNTY - A total of 2,544 voters had made their choices known by yesterday.  That total includes 1,763 who cast their ballot in person along with 778 who mailed in absentee ballots.  There were also three provisional ballots cast.

Calhoun County had 8,593 registered voters as of Nov. 1.  That number includes 5,427 Democrats, 2,248 Republicans and 918 with other or no party affiliation.

LIBERTY COUNTY - There were 1,251 early votes cast in Liberty County by Tuesday afternoon.  That included 892 early voters and 359 who cast their votes by mail.

Liberty County has 4,495 registered voters.  The group includes 3,398 Democrats, 730 Republican and 367 who claim other or no party affiliation.

Early voting continues through Nov. 5.  The general election is set for Nov. 8.
