SAND HILLS-It was all Blountstown all night long last Thursday night at Bozeman. The Tigers scored in all facets of the game and pitched their second consecutive shut out for their first district win of the year over the Bozeman Bucks.

The game started with the Tigers taking the opening kick off and driving right down the field but failed to put the ball in the end zone and lost the ball on downs at the Bozeman 11 yard line. Two plays later the Tiger defense scored a safety when Jamarius Engram knocked the ball loose from a Bozeman ball carrier in the end zone that was recovered by another Buck player but Tiger Seth Brown tackled him out of the back of the end zone for the Tiger 2 point lead. The Tigers received the ball after the safety and scored quickly on a six play drive capped by a 9 yard Tristen Burke run. The extra point by Nathan Hunter gave the Tigers the 9-0 lead with 5:35 left in the 1st quarter. The Tiger defense would force a three and out then the special teams would get into the scoring act. KK Godwin returned the Bozeman punt 79 yards for the Tiger TD with huge blocks from Seth Brown and Trevon Mathews. The extra point was blocked but the rout was on at 15-0 just 11 minutes into the game. After two failed possessions the Tiger defense would get on the scoreboard again. Jamarius Engram forced his second fumble of the night with a massive hit on a Buck ball carrier and Shad Johnson scooped up the ball and rumbled 15 yards into the paint for the score. The extra point failed but the Tigers took the 21-0 lead with 6:05 left in the half. The Tigers next possession produced points quickly with a three play drive finished off by a Trevon Mathews 31 yard run up the middle for the 27-0 lead. The Tigers would score again just before half on a 48 yard run by Denzel Washington. The half would end with a KK Godwin interception and the Tigers leading 33-0.

The second half was much of the same for the Tiger offense. The Tigers scored on their first possession of the second half going 44 yard on 8 plays with Shad Johnson completing the drive with a 15 yard run. Alex Valdez kicked the extra point for the Tiger 40-0 lead. The 40 point lead would start the running clock and the game ended quickly with a lot of young Tigers getting some quality playing time.

Blountstown QB Bryson Horne finished the night going 7-10 for 54 yards. Denzel Washington led the Tigers on the ground with 48 yards on 1 carry. Tristen Burke added 41 yards on the ground with Shad Johnson and Trevon Mathews chipping in 39 yards each. Mathews, Javas Davis, Trent Peacock and Blake Landrum all had double digit tackles for the Tigers defense. Jamarius Engram delivered two ball jarring hits and KK Godwin picked off his fourth pass of the year.

The Tigers (4-2, 1-1) move on to face the Class 4A Marianna Bulldogs (4-1) this Friday night in Marianna. The Bulldogs are coming off a tough district loss to East Gadsden last week 28-26. Game time in Marianna this Friday night will be 7 CT.
