Bristol City Council votes on final millage rate, holds final budget hearing Sept. 26

Chairman Woody Stewart called this meeting to order and opened the Final Millage and Budget Hearing with Council-members Brigham S. Shuler and James Kersey, Jr. present.  Mayor Becky Nobles and City Clerk Robin M. Hatcher were also in attendance.  Councilwomen Gilda Drummond and Ellen Lewis were not present.
Nobles offered the invocation. Shuler led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Stewart announced: 1) The proposed millage rate for FY 2016/2017 is $5.1543 per $1,000. 2) The current year rolled-back rate is $4.9208 per $1,000.  3) The proposed rate as a percent change of rolled-back rate is 4.75%.  He then opened the floor to the public for comments.  There were none. Stewart closed the public comment period and read aloud Final Millage Resolution #2016-07.  Shuler moved to adopt Final Millage Resolution #2016-07, seconded by Kersey, all voted in favor.
Stewart then announced: 1) The proposed budget for FY 2016/2017 is $1,780,207.  2) This year’s proposed operating expenses are 3.0% more than last year’s operating expenses. 3) The millage rate for FY 2016/2017 has been set at $5.1543 mils per $1,000.00.  He then opened the floor to the public for comments.  There were none.  Stewart closed the public comment period and read aloud Final Budget Resolution #2016-08.  Shuler moved to adopt Final Budget Resolution #2016-08, seconded by Kersey, all voted in favor.
Stewart closed the Final Millage & Budget Hearing.  Shuler moved to adjourn, seconded by Kersey, all voted in favor.  This meeting adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
