James C. Summers

BRISTOL - James C. Summers, 85, of Bristol, passed away Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 in Panama City. He was born on Feb. 2, 1931 in Bristol and had lived in Bristol since 1993, coming from Port St. Joe. He retired from St. Joe Paper Company with 44 years of service. He was Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Army.  He was a member of Bristol Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Bessie (Canley) Summers and his wife, Reatha Lavell (Bill) Summers; and a brother, Jack Summers.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Summers of Bristol; three sons, Eddie Summers and his wife, Cindy and Greg Summers and his wife, Pam, all of Port St. Joe and Ricky Summers and wife, Kari of White City; two sisters, Barbara Whitfield and Ruenell Edenfield, both of Bristol; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.

Services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. ET at Bristol Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverend Coy Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Lake Mystic Cemetery in Bristol.

Peavy Funeral Home in Blountstown is in charge of the arrangements.
