A 21-year-old man was arrested after deputies tracked down two Xboxes and five games that were stolen from Rivertown Community Church earlier this month.
Adam Lewis Price was charged with burglary of a structure, grand theft over $300 and criminal mischief over $200 to a place of worship.
A church member realized the equipment was missing Aug. 14 after a janitor at the church noticed a door leading to Rivertown’s Life Center had been broken into. A concrete cinderblock found next to the building was apparently used to break a window in the door.
Several items of value were left untouched. The missing items were taken from the youth game room.
Deputies later learned that Price, who had just been released from prison in July after serving time for burglary and theft, was seen with two Xboxes.
While speaking with a friend of Price’s about an Xbox, the friend commented, “That Xbox is stolen, isn’t it?” The friend said Price left one Xbox and some games at his home and turned it over to deputies. One of the games had a Rivertown Community Church sticker on it.
Price’s mother later contacted the sheriff’s office after finding a backpack on her couch that belonged to her son. Inside was an Xbox console, three controllers and two games, including one with a church sticker on it.
His mother said Price later came to her house and she urged him to turn himself in. Instead, he said he was going swimming with some friends.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and Price was taken into custody Aug. 23. He later admitted to taking the Xbox gaming consoles from the church and said he planned to sell them.
