ALTHA–Harmon H. Whitfield, 76, of Altha passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2010 in Blountstown. Harmon was born in July 5, 1934 in Altha and had lived in Calhoun County all of his life. He worked at many different jobs including, a barber, farmer, truck driver and logger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Mary Whitfield; one brother, Alton Curlee and two sisters, Willie Mae Lollie and Mozelle Gates.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Wanda Whitfield of Altha; two sons, Keith Whitfield of Altha and Bobby Skeen and his wife, Donna of Altha; four daughters, Angela Edenfield and her husband, Wayne of Grand Ridge, Shannon Chancellor and her husband, Chance of Phenoix City, AL, Maggie Durham and her husband, Chris of Clarksville and Micki Skeen of Altha; three brothers, Jimmy Whitfield and his wife, Ann of Blountstown, James Whitfield and his wife, Linda of Altha and Wayne Whitfield of Altha; one sister, Carolyn Peak and her husband, Jerry of Port St. Joe; brother-in-law, Roy Lollie of Port St. Joe and 13 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 30 from 6 p.m. until 8 pm (CT) at Peavy Funeral Home.
No services are planned at this time. Memorialization will be by cremation. The family will accept flowers but anyone wishing may make contributions to Covenant Hospice 4215 Kelson Ave., Marianna, FL 32446.
